•
In 1983, when Evans came up with the vision for the first-ever memorial on the National Mall to honor women who’d worn a military uniform, she wouldn’t be deterred. She remembered not only her sister veterans, but also the hundreds of young wounded men she had cared for, as she expressed during a Congressional hearing in Washington, D.C.: “Women didn’t have to enter military service, but we stepped up to serve believing we belonged with our brothers-in-arms and now we belong with them at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. If they belong there, we belong there. We were there for them then. We mattered.”

In the end, those wounded soldiers who had survived proved to be there for their sisters-in-arms, joining their fight for honor in Evans’ journey of combating unforeseen bureaucratic obstacles and facing mean-spirited opposition. Her impassioned story of serving in Vietnam is a crucial backstory to her fight to honor the women she served beside. She details the gritty and ...

 •
A lush, photographic journey through the origins and cataclysms of one of America’s most enigmatic natural treasures.

Carved and scoured by catastrophic floods at the end of the most recent ice age, the Channeled Scablands of eastern Washington State dazzle with their harsh beauty and the diversity of their natural features, including great waterfalls, sprawling canyons, and cinematic palisades. In this pictorial love letter to the region, writer and photographer Timothy Connor expertly combines stunning images, engaging field notes, historical narrative, and a touching personal sojourn. His photography captures the sweeping horizons, braided wetlands, and vibrant wildlife, while his words examine the once-mystifying landmarks of the area through the story of J Harlen Bretz, the geologist who, in the 1920s, first suggested that massive floods formed the Scablands’ epic cataracts and inexplicably deep lakes. Incorporating the poignant story of Con...

 •
In Walt Whitman's 'The Wound Dresser', the reader is transported to the grim realities of the American Civil War, as seen through the eyes of a dedicated nurse tending to wounded soldiers. Whitman's poetic prose style beautifully captures the pain and suffering of the soldiers, as well as the tender care and compassion of the nurse. The vivid imagery and raw emotions in the book make it a moving portrayal of the human cost of war, while also highlighting the resilience and selflessness of those who provide comfort and care in times of great need. Walt Whitman, known for his groundbreaking poetry collection 'Leaves of Grass', was deeply impacted by his experiences volunteering as a nurse during the Civil War. 'The Wound Dresser' reflects his firsthand observations of the physical and emotional toll of battle, as well as his belief in the healing power of human connection. Whitman's unique perspective as both a poet and a caregiver adds depth and authenticity to the narrative. I ...

 •
This book is about reconciliation. It is about winning forgiveness and healing for self and others at a price. That price in this book is foot washing. The research, based on descriptions and stories told, shed light on the depth of foot washing as a powerful alternative tool that can break the cycle of conflict and facilitate dialogue. Stories tell that foot washing generated emotions of tears and joy eliciting trust, forgiveness, reconciliation, and restoration of lost relationships in the process of mediation and conflict resolution. Endy and his wife are small business owners in travel and commercial-cleaning trades since 1995. Endy is currently a certified mediator in Superior Court Civil Actions in the state of North Carolina. Love, let live, and live (partly a World War II saying).
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

 •
Wounded Eagle is a fictional account of actual events that took place during the US-USSR Cold War of the late 1970s. The title was a top secret code word used to describe situations which reduced or eliminated advance warning of an aircraft attack on the US Capital. Such warnings are provided based on a network of long range radar sensors deployed on or near the US coastline. Digital data from these sensors are combined and integrated into overall aircraft status pictures covering hundreds of miles over the ocean and an equal distance inland. The FAA and NORAD use these data jointly for real-time air route traffic control and early warning of intrusion or attack of the homeland. The Fort Lee AFS Direction Center in central Virginia provided data to NORAD to accomplish those functions for the Mid-Atlantic States including Washington, DC. At 0430 hours (EDT) on Monday, 8 August 1977, the NORAD Command Post within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex was notified that an air conditioning...
